It has been a long time coming, but on Wednesday, November 11th, the new Super Walmart will be opening at Zion Crossroads. Residents of the Charlottesville area have been without a Super Walmart as they have watched new stores open in nearby Wayesboro and Richmond. Now, Charlottesville area residents will be able to enjoy one of the newest Walmart designs in the entire country.
The new Supercenter in Zion X Roads features a brand-new design that is part of Walmart’s “Project Impact.” These newer stores are designed to be more inviting, brighter, and have a more customer-friendly layout, among other things.
The new store will certainly have a major impact of residents in Fluvanna, Lake Monticello, and Louisa. Residents in these areas have had to travel to Charlottesville, Waynesboro or Richmond, previously. Now, one of the largest and newest Walmarts in their country will be right in their own backyard.
As the area has grown, the demand for a large grocery store has increased, but no grocery chain has stepped up to fill that void. Most grocery stores in communities outside Charlottesville have been Food Lions. Those stores are sure to be impacted by the increased selection and discount pricing that a Walmart Supercenter can provide.
The Walmart at Zion X Roads is scheduled to open at 7:30am on Wednesday. We’ll be there to cover the opening and provide pictures and videos from the store to give you an idea of what it is like. Stay tuned. . .
