Many things have changed in the 200-plus years since Thomas Jefferson began construction on his home at Monticello. One thing that has not changed is the celebration of Christmas.
Monticello has been honoring that celebration in much the same way that Thomas and Martha would have 200 years ago. The best part is, you can take place in the celebration, too.
Visiting Monticello, the crown jewel of the Charlottesville area, is a must-do for anyone who lives or visits the area. Many people visit in the Spring and Summer, but forget that Monticello receives special attention for the holidays.
On 9 different dates throughout December, you can experience Christmas at Monticello by taking a holiday tour. The tours are $45 per person. The holiday tours are different from the regular house tours, so if you think you’ve seen Monticello before, you’ve never seen it quite like this. For more information about the tours, and to buy tickets, visit the Monticello website.
There are plenty of things to do around the Charlottesville area during the holidays, but why not take a step back in time and enjoy the holiday ambiance in the area’s most historic home?
